The National Agricultural Development Fund (NADF) has taken a significant step to support vulnerable onion farmers in four Northern states, including Borno, Yobe, Sokoto, and Kebbi, by distributing emergency agricultural inputs to 2,000 farmers. This timely intervention aims to help mitigate the devastating impact of recent floods that have ravaged these states, causing widespread destruction to crops, livestock, and livelihoods.

The floods have had a severe impact on the agricultural sector, leading to a surge in input costs and product prices, affecting both farmers and buyers. The NADF’s efforts are expected to provide much-needed relief to these farmers, enabling them to recover from the losses and rebuild their livelihoods.

In a bid to cushion the effects of the floods and stabilize food prices, the Senate has called on the Federal Government, state governments, and local authorities to implement fertilizer and agricultural input subsidies. This move is expected to provide much-needed support to farmers, improve agricultural productivity, and ultimately enhance food security in the country.
