Assalaamun Alaykum Warahmatullah Taallah Wabarakatuhu

Belief in Allah (Tawḥid) as an Article of Faith

All praise is due to Allah, the Lord of the worlds. We praise Him, we seek His help, and we seek His forgiveness. We bear witness that there is no deity worthy of worship except Allah alone, without partner, and we bear witness that Muhammad is His servant and Messenger.

Dear brothers and sisters,

The greatest and most fundamental article of faith in Islam is belief in Allah—Tawḥid. It is the foundation upon which all other beliefs and actions stand. Without it, no deed has value; with it, even small deeds carry immense reward.

Belief in Allah means to affirm with certainty that Allah alone is the Creator, Sustainer, and Controller of the universe. He is the One who created the heavens and the earth, who gives life and causes death, who provides sustenance and determines destiny.

Nothing happens except by His knowledge and permission. When a believer truly understands this, fear of creation diminishes and reliance upon the Creator strengthens.

Tawḥid also means to single out Allah in worship. Prayer, fasting, charity, sacrifice, supplication—these acts must be directed to Allah alone. We do not call upon saints, idols, or intermediaries. We do not seek ultimate help from wealth, status, or power. Our hearts are attached only to Allah. This is the message brought by all prophets—from Adam to Nuh, from Ibrahim to Musa, and completed by Muhammad (peace be upon them all): “Worship Allah; you have no deity other than Him.”

Belief in Allah also includes affirming His beautiful names and perfect attributes. He is Ar-Raḥman (The Most Merciful), Al-Ḥakim (The Most Wise), Al-ʿAdl (The Most Just), Al-Ghafur (The Most Forgiving).

His mercy encompasses all things. His wisdom is perfect even when we do not understand events around us. His justice ensures that no good deed goes unrewarded and no goes unnoticed.

When belief in Allah is firm in the heart, it transforms character. A believer becomes sincere because he knows Allah sees him.
He becomes honest because he knows Allah hears him. He becomes patient because he trusts Allah’s plan. He becomes grateful because he recognizes every blessing as coming from Allah.
In times of hardship, Tawḥid gives strength.

When wealth disappears, when health declines, when society becomes unstable, the believer says: “Hasbunallahu wa niʿmal wakil—Allah is sufficient for us, and He is the best disposer of affairs.” His heart remains steady because it is connected to the Ever-Living, the Self-Sustaining.

Dear faithful,

Renew your Tawḥid daily. Guard your prayers. Increase your remembrance of Allah. Reflect upon Allah’s signs in creation. Teach your children that their success lies not in pleasing people, but in pleasing Allah.
_____________

May Allah strengthen our faith, purify our hearts from shirk and doubt, and make us among those who live and die upon sincere belief in Him alone. Ameen.
