Assalaamun Alaykum Warahmatullah Taallah Wabarakatuhu

Belief in the Revealed Books (Kutub) as an Article of Faith

All praise is due to Allah, Lord of the worlds. We bear witness that there is no deity worthy of worship except Allah, and that Muhammad (peace and blessings be upon him) is His final Messenger.

Dear brothers and sisters,

Among the six Articles of Faith in Islam is belief in the revealed Books of Allah. This noble pillar reminds us that our Lord did not leave humanity without guidance.

From the beginning of creation, Allah sent down divine scriptures to guide mankind from darkness into light.

Allah revealed the Tawrah to Prophet Musa (peace be upon him), the Zabur to Prophet Dawud (peace be upon him), the Injil to Prophet Isa (peace be upon him), and finally the Qur’an to Prophet Muhammad (peace be upon him). These are not ordinary books; they are revelations from the Lord of the heavens and the earth.

The Tawrah was sent to guide the Children of Israel with laws and commandments.

The Zabur contained praises and spiritual wisdom.

The Injil brought mercy and reaffirmed the truth of earlier revelations.

And the final revelation, the Qur’an, stands as a confirmation and guardian over all previous scriptures.

To believe in the revealed Books means to affirm that they were sent by Allah in their original form as guidance, light, and truth. It means we respect all prophets and do not discriminate among them. It means we recognize the continuity of divine guidance throughout history.

However, as Muslims, we also believe that over time, earlier scriptures were altered or lost in their original purity. Therefore, Allah, in His mercy, revealed the Qur’an as the final and preserved message. Allah Himself has promised to guard it from corruption. For over fourteen centuries, it has remained unchanged—memorized in hearts and written in manuscripts across the world.

Belief in the revealed Books teaches us powerful lessons.

First, it teaches us that Allah communicates with humanity. He is not distant or silent. He guides, instructs, and corrects us through revelation.

Second, it teaches us unity in faith. The message of all prophets was one: worship Allah alone and live righteously. The core message did not change, even if laws differed according to time and people.

Third, it teaches us responsibility. We are not only to believe in the Qur’an—we are to live by it. It must shape our character, our families, our communities, and our society. The Qur’an should not remain on shelves or be recited only melodiously; it must transform our hearts and actions.

Dear believers,

When we neglect the Book of Allah, confusion spreads. When we abandon divine guidance, injustice increases. But when we hold firmly to revelation, we find clarity, purpose, and peace.

Let us renew our commitment to the Qur’an.

Let us read it daily, understand its meanings, and implement its teachings.

Let us teach our children that this Book is a living miracle and a mercy to mankind.
______________

May Allah make us among the people of the Qur’an—the people who believe in all His revealed Books and follow His final revelation with sincerity and obedience.
Ameen.
