The leadership and entire member of Al-HabibiyyahIslamic Society warmly congratulate Alhaji Salihu Abdulhamid Dembos on his reappointment as the Director-General/Chief Executive Officer of the Nigerian Television Authority (NTA) for another three-year term.
President Bola Ahmed Tinubu has renewed the appointment of Dembos for another three years, with the new tenure commencing on 20 October 2026 following the expiration of his current tenure.
Al-Habibiyyah Islamic Society describes the reappointment as a strong vote of confidence in Dembos‘ professionalism, accountability, administrative competence, diligence and commitment to national development.
Dembos was first appointed NTA Director-General/Chief Executive Officer on 21 September 2022 by former President Muhammadu Buhari for an initial three-year tenure. At the time of his appointment, he was the Executive Director of Marketing at NTA and had accumulated more than two decades of experience in broadcasting, including serving as General Manager of NTA stations in Lokoja and Kano and as Zonal Director in Kaduna.
His continued retention by the present administration, despite the transition between administrations, demonstrates the value placed on his experience, professionalism and performance in leading Nigeria’s foremost public television institution.
The Society believes that his renewed mandate provides an opportunity to consolidate the gains recorded under his leadership, deepen institutional reforms, strengthen public broadcasting and introduce further innovations capable of positioning NTA for greater relevance in Nigeria’s rapidly evolving media and digital landscape.
Al-Habibiyyah further notes that effective public broadcasting has a critical role to play in informing, educating and positively shaping society, promoting national unity, strengthening social cohesion and providing citizens with credible and responsible information.
The Society said Dembos‘ reappointment also resonates with the Qur’anic principle of appointing people who possess both competence and trustworthiness:
“…Indeed, the best one you can hire is the strong and the trustworthy.”
— Qur’an 28:26
While congratulating the NTA Director-General on the confidence reposed in him, Al-HabibiyyahIslamic Society urges him to continue to uphold the highest standards of professional integrity, impartiality, accountability and service to the Nigerian people.
The Society also prays that Almighty Allah (SWT) grants Alhaji Dembos sound health, wisdom, courage and strength to discharge the enormous responsibility entrusted to him. May Allah guide his decisions, bless his efforts, protect him and his family and make his renewed tenure a period of greater transformation for the Nigerian Television Authority and meaningful service to the Federal Republic of Nigeria.
