In a dramatic move aimed at restoring unity and discipline ahead of the 2027 general elections, the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) has expelled several prominent members during its ongoing 2025 National Convention in Ibadan, Oyo State.

Those expelled include former Rivers State Governor Nyesom Wike, former Imo PDP governorship candidate Senator Samuel Anyanwu, Senior Advocate of Nigeria Kamaldeen Ajibade, former Ekiti State Governor Ayo Fayose, Hon. Austin Nwachukwu, among others.

The decision, adopted by an overwhelming majority of delegates, signals the party’s readiness to confront internal sabotage and enforce strict adherence to party ideals. Party officials described the expulsions as necessary to “eradicate long-standing internal divisions and anti-party tendencies” that have hindered the PDP’s cohesion and electoral strength.
