The Organization of Muslims Unity (OMU), Nigeria, as part of its Ramadan da’wah activity, recently organized a lecture titled “Reformation Of The World Through Ramadhan.”
The guest lecturer, Sheikh Nuhu Yaqub Gata, Chief Imam Anwarul Huda Jum’at Mosque, Abuja in his lecture stated that the process of reformation starts with the individuals need to be first reformed especially in the light of the Sunnah of the Prophet (SAW).
Gata gave examples of individual Sahabah among the companions of the Prophet who used to be among the worst of sinners but were eventually reformed by the advent of Islam to the extent that even non Muslims preferred to live within the Muslim community and also learnt morality from the Muslims, while majority reverted to Islam. He explained that such reformation is still possible.
“Non muslim don’t read the Qur’an but they read the muslims”, he stated.
Gata cited the example of the renown author, Michael Hart who wrote the book on the 100 most influential people in the history of mankind choosing Prophet Muhammad (SAW) as the first in his book.
“Ramadan is here to reform the muslims for the better, so it’s up to the muslims to show and prove to the world that the world can be a better place to live in by remaining reformed even after Ramadhan”, the Scholar added.
The National Deputy Missioner of the Organization and also doubles as Abuja branch Róis, Imam Sulaiman Aliyu in his remark, quoted chapter 106 of the Holy Qur’an and explained that submission to God in worship is a requirement to attain peace and security in the nation.
He analysed how Nigeria is blessed by God, stressing the fact that Nigeria has been provided with enough resources that suffice for her citizens needs but can never suffice for her citizens greeds.
He stated that unlike many other nations plagued with various natural disasters, Nigerians majorly, are their own natural disasters and architect of their tribulations through disobedience to God and their engagements in ungodly life styles.
Sulaiman who is also a key figure at Al-Habibiyyah Islamic Society Gwagwalada branch led the congregation present at the event in a special prayer for peace, safety and harmony in the Nation after making a reference to a part of the last verse of Surah Al-Furqān Verse 77: “Say: My Lord would not care for you, were it not for your prayer (supplications).”
