Reports say that the US President has been issued with a long list of requirements by Iranian officials if he wants to put a stop to the conflict

Iran has reportedly issued a big list of demands to the US and Israel for if there is to be an end to the war in the Middle East – a humiliating ransom for US President Donald Trump.
Iran is demanding a number of guarantees as talks remain ongoing to end the conflict, which has led to thousands of deaths, damage to crucial infrastructure and people being displaces from their homes.
Alluding to progress in talks with Iran, Trump has claimed Iran is eager for a deal to end the war.
He said on Monday his son-in-law Jared Kushner and U.S. envoy Steve Witkoff held talks with an unnamed Iranian leader, though he said the US hasn’t talked to the supreme leader. Iran denied that such talks were taking place.
Speaking on NewsNation, Robert Sherman, a correspondent speaking from Tel Aviv, said: “The President of Iran has said that one of the things that needs to happen is security guarantees, insurances that the war would not be resuming.”
He noted that Iran is looking for guarantees against future military action, compensation for wartime losses – they also want formal control of the Strait of Hormuz and no ballistic missile programme limitations.
Mr Sherman continued: “That last one especially is going to be a difficult one for the Israeli side to swallow – and likely for the Americans as well. There are indications that Iran has said that they are prepared to dig their hells in on all this, that they have some kind of leverage.
“That’s why when you talk to the Israeli public, they’re not putting a lot of stock into the potential for any talks here, believing that the gap to bridge is simply a little too far wid. Most people believe that there is still a way to go in this war.”
Many on social media have labelled the demands as ‘humiliating’ for the US President – as reports suggest the US military is preparing to deploy at least 1,000 troops from the 82nd Airborne Division to the Middle East in the coming days.
The death toll from the war has risen to more than 1,500 people in Iran, over 1,000 people in Lebanon, 16 in Israel and 13 US military members, as well as a number of civilians on land and sea in the Gulf region.
